CONVENTION ON WETLANDS COP15 FIELD TRIPS

On Tuesday 29 July 2025 we will do a one-day field trip to Kasibo Wetland Protection Project in Hwange, which is approximately 120km from Elephant Hills Hotel which is the venue for Ramsar CoP15 by road. Kasibo Wetland Protection Project is a community project in Hwange that tells a success story of using sustainable practices in a local wetland to increase access to food and water.

The field trips are scheduled to happen between 0800hrs and 1800hrs. There will be 4 batches of group departures, and each batch constitutes 250 delegates. Each batch is expected to take approximately 4 hours to conduct the entire field trip.

  • All delegates interested in taking part in field trips will register onsite at the venue.
  • Registration will be open for the first 3 days of the Convention 23 – 25 July 2025.
  • There will be a registration tent onsite where a registration desk for Field Trips will be found and individuals can register.
  • The slots for registration online for field trips will be on a first come first served basis.
  • The field trips booking platform will accommodate at most 6 delegates from each party to the conference.
  • Delegates will register for the field trip after approval of attending the conference.
  • The delegates are requested to choose a time slot that they prefer to travel to Kasibo from the 4 departure times provided.

 

Please bring:

  • Comfortable outdoor clothes: Choose lightweight, breathable clothing suitable for walking and outdoor activities.
  • Sturdy footwear: Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes. No sandals or flip flops.
  • Insect repellent: Use insect repellent and apply sunscreen.
  • Personal refillable water bottle to minimize plastic use (for the entire conference).

 

Notes:

  1. a) The same buses ferrying delegates to Kasibo will also take them back to their respective accommodation facilities.
  2. b) All delegates are expected to be back in Victoria Falls from Kasibo latest 1800hrs.
