The Kasibo Wetlands
The Kasibo Wetlands in Hwange, Zimbabwe, have played a crucial role in supporting local communities, particularly in the face of climate change. The community has successfully implemented irrigation, gardens, beekeeping, and fish farming, ensuring food security and economic stability despite drought conditions. The wetland replenishes the local weir, providing water for crops and supporting livelihoods. Zimbabwe joined the Ramsar Convention in 2013 to protect wetlands, recognizing their importance in climate resilience.
